Some books with moving parts are engaging, but don’t hold up well. Some hold up okay but don’t hold a child's interest. Simple Machines Made Simple gets top marks in both categories. It is totally engaging and holds our grandson's interest. As he explores all of the machines and their movements, it remains intact and sturdy. We love it. More importantly, HE loves it.
Concept is great. My kid doesn’t quite understand how to use it yet, so we will wait as he gets older. He can turn the wheel and enjoys watching it!
For the age, I think having photos of the more complex ideas (bike, elevator, ramp, etc) would be easier for the kids to put together with the interactive machine.
All the mechanics function perfectly. My 4 year old has had fun flipping through the demos and learning the concepts that constitute so much of what she experiences every day. Great book and I'm curious to see the next installment.
We love the book! I bought it for my toddler to look at (with supervision since there are small parts) but my 11 year old really likes it, too. Cool how most pages let you experience effort required without the simple machine also. Thumbs up!
